Roma star Evan Ndicka collapsed on the pitch after feeling chest pain during the Serie A clash with Udinese as match was abandoned

The Serie A game between Roma and Udinese at Stadio Friuli was unfortunately abandoned after a concerning incident involving Evan Ndicka. The Ivory Coast international collapsed on the pitch, prompting the match to be halted. Ndicka received immediate medical attention before being stretchered off the field, accompanied by a reassuring thumbs-up gesture to the worried spectators.

Understandably, Ndicka’s teammates, as well as Roma’s coaching staff, were eager for updates on his condition. Roma’s head coach, Daniele De Rossi, personally visited the dressing room to inquire about Ndicka’s well-being and later relayed the information to those still on the field. Subsequently, a decision was made to abandon the game, a move that was accepted by Udinese.

Initial tests indicated the possibility of Ndicka suffering a heart attack, leading to his transfer to a hospital for further assessment. In response, Roma issued an official statement expressing their support for Ndicka and confirming that he was conscious as he underwent additional checks at the hospital. The statement conveyed, “Following the on-field medical emergency involving Evan Ndicka, the match between Udinese and Roma has been suspended. The player is conscious and has been taken to hospital for further checks. Forza Evan, we are all with you!”

In accordance with Serie A regulations, the match will be resumed at a later date from the exact point at which it was interrupted. The same players who were on the pitch at the time of the abandonment will participate in the continuation of the fixture. Notably, both Roberto Pereyra and Romelu Lukaku had scored before the game was brought to a halt.
