Jorginho signs new short term deal at Arsenal valid until June 2025

The 32-year-old Italy midfielder Jorginho, who joined the Gunners from London rivals Chelsea in January 2023, has quickly become a vital part of Mikel Arteta’s Premier League title-chasing squad. Having made 35 appearances across all competitions so far this season and showcasing his skill with a goal in a Champions League win over Lens, Jorginho’s impact on the team has been significant.

Arteta, acknowledging the experience and know-how that Jorginho brings to the team as a player who has previously won the Champions League, Europa League, and European Championships, expressed his delight at Jorginho’s commitment to Arsenal, stating, “Jorgi is such an important part of our team, a role model with great leadership skills and a unique playing style ability which makes everybody better around him on the pitch.”

In response to his hopes for the future after signing a new, short-term deal, Jorginho expressed his eagerness to win trophies at Arsenal, emphasizing the importance of enjoying the moment and being happy in his current environment. He stated, “Win as much as I can, enjoy the moment because that’s really important for me. Because if you are somewhere where you are not enjoying it, or you are not happy, then it’s difficult. So moving forward is trying to be here, happy and achieving as much as we can.”

Additionally, Arsenal’s manager, Arteta, noted the significance of Jorginho’s commitment to the club and the positive impact it brings to the entire team, emphasizing the excitement to continue the journey together. “We’re very pleased that Jorgi and his family have committed with us and we’re all excited to continue this journey together,” stated Arteta.

With Jorginho’s determination to contribute to Arsenal’s success and Arteta’s praise for his impact on the team, the future looks promising for both the player and the club.
