Ex-Tottenham player Eric Dier will continue playing for Bayern Munich as they confirm his permanent transfer.

Eric Dier’s move to Bayern Munich signals a new chapter in his career, as the defender completes a permanent transfer from Tottenham Hotspur. The initial agreement, which was signed during the January transfer window, originally outlined a loan period until the conclusion of the current season, with an option for Bayern to extend it for an additional 12 months. However, the Bavarians officially confirmed on Saturday that they have exercised this option, securing Dier’s presence at the club until June 2025. This move reflects the club’s unwavering confidence in his abilities and potential contributions to the team’s success.

Following the confirmation of his permanent transfer, the English defender expressed his contentment in Munich, stating to the club’s official website, “I’m happy in Munich. Now my future is sorted, and I can focus on playing well for the club and trying to help the club to win games, win competitions, even though it’s been a difficult period for us.”

The earlier agreement involved Bayern paying a reported €4 million (£3.4m/$4.3m) as the loan fee to Tottenham. Nevertheless, once his contract with Tottenham expires at the end of the campaign, Bayern will be able to register Dier as a free agent. The club’s hierarchy has lauded his performance in his six appearances for the club, particularly highlighting his contributions in Bayern’s recent 2-1 victory against RB Leipzig.
