They also mentioned being in dialogue with Maddy’s family and the club throughout this process.

The FA’s decision to conduct a review comes after The Athletic reported the details of a seven-page complaint filed by Cusack’s family following her death. This report includes a wide range of grievances from Cusack’s last seven months with the club, which coincided with Jonathan Morgan’s appointment as head coach. It’s worth noting that Morgan stepped away from his role while the independent investigation took place in October but has since returned to work earlier this month.

Maddy Cusack made history as the first women’s player to reach 100 appearances for Sheffield United, having initially joined the club in 2019. Her untimely passing led to tributes taking place at football grounds across the country, including at Sheffield United men’s games and England’s fixture against Scotland.
