Dutch GP: Max Verstappen wins rain-hit race to equal Sebastian Vettel’s record of nine straight victories

Max Verstappen clinched his ninth consecutive Formula 1 victory by winning the rain-soaked Dutch Grand Prix, setting a new record in the process.

Verstappen matched Vettel’s record by winning his home race for Red Bull despite challenging weather conditions.

In the recent Formula 1 race, Fernando Alonso secured second place for Aston Martin, with Pierre Gasly achieving his first podium finish for Alpine in third. This result came after a penalty was imposed on Sergio Perez, Verstappen’s teammate, who dropped to fourth.

In a dramatic turn of events, Verstappen secured pole position in a wet qualifying session. However, heavy rain during the first lap caused a reshuffling of the order, forcing drivers to switch to intermediate tires.

In the race, Perez and Verstappen made early pit stops, with Perez taking the lead and Verstappen quickly climbing back up to second.

Verstappen reclaimed the lead by pitting early and benefiting from an undercut on Perez, who emerged in second place after his pit stop.

Verstappen was leading comfortably but rain affected the race with 12 laps to go.

During a chaotic race, heavy rain caused drivers to switch to intermediate or wet tires. Cars began to aquaplane on the main straight, leading to a major crash involving Zhou Guanyu from Alfa Romeo and a subsequent red flag.

In the final minutes of the race, Verstappen maintained his composure and successfully secured a comfortable lead, surpassing Alonso by a significant margin after a delay of over 40 minutes.

Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz defended his position against Lewis Hamilton during the restart, preventing the Mercedes driver from making a come-from-behind victory.

McLaren’s Lando Norris finished seventh after a turbulent race, while George Russell, who started third, failed to score any points due to a late collision.

In the Formula 1 race, Alex Albon secured eighth place for Williams and McLaren’s Oscar Piastri followed closely behind. Esteban Ocon also performed well, earning the last point.

Max Verstappen has the chance to surpass Sebastian Vettel’s record of nine consecutive wins for Red Bull in 2013 at the upcoming Italian Grand Prix.

Red Bull has continued their winning streak, securing their 14th consecutive victory this season.

Max Verstappen’s recent victory brings him closer to winning his third consecutive drivers’ title. He now leads Sergio Perez by 138 points with nine races left in the season.
