Arsenal in talks over selling £5m USMNT defender Auston Trusty to newly-promoted Sheffield United

In the latest transfer news, Arsenal Football Club is reportedly planning to part ways with American defender Auston Trusty in an anticipated move to Sheffield United. This move comes as no surprise, as the promising Premier League side recently earned promotion to the top-flight English football competition.

Auston Trusty, known for his strength and defensive prowess, made his name in the United States with the Colorado Rapids before his transfer to Arsenal. At just 24 years old, Trusty has showcased raw talent and impressive potential, attracting the attention of several clubs across Europe.

As the transfer window heats up, Arsenal has actively been looking to reshape their squad and address areas that require strengthening. It seems that Trusty has become surplus to requirements in Mikel Arteta’s plans, leading to the decision to offload him. The move to Sheffield United could provide Trusty with a fresh start and more opportunities to prove himself at the top level.

While it may be disappointing for Arsenal fans to see a promising young talent leave the club, it is worth noting that this transfer could work in Trusty’s favor, allowing him to gain valuable experience and continue his development in a highly competitive league. Sheffield United, under the guidance of manager Chris Wilder, has shown their ability to nurture young talents and transform them into key contributors within their system.

Sheffield United, who recently earned promotion to the top division, is in advanced talks with Arsenal to sign Auston Trusty as a left-sided central defender. The deal is worth £5m and is expected to be completed in the coming days.

24-year-old joined Arsenal in January 2022 from Colorado Rapids. Sent back on loan to MLS side. Later sent on second loan spell at Birmingham City.

Trusty appeared in 48 matches for Birmingham last season, scoring four goals and providing two assists. He also made his debut for the USMNT in a match against Grenada earlier this year.

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal will face AS Monaco in the Emirates Cup final on August 2.
