Manchester United hold talks with PSG over midfielder Manuel Ugarte

Manchester United are considering making a move for PSG midfielder Manuel Ugarte, as part of their efforts to strengthen their under-performing midfield. However, PSG sources claim that a formal bid has already been rejected due to falling significantly below their valuation, with interest from other clubs, including those from the Premier League.

United, on the other hand, insist that their interest in Ugarte is in the early stages and that only exploratory talks have taken place so far. It appears that PSG’s asking price for Ugarte is currently higher than what United are prepared to pay, leading them to consider whether to make a formal offer or explore other potential targets.

Ugarte, who is part of Uruguay’s squad for the Copa America, is also attracting interest from Italian clubs. With United’s midfield potentially undergoing reshaping due to expected departures and uncertain futures, Ugarte could be seen as a direct replacement for outgoing players.

In addition to their pursuit of Ugarte, United are also in the market for a central defender and a centre-forward during this transfer window. They seem to have made progress in negotiations for players like Jarrad Branthwaite and Joshua Zirkzee, but valuation differences and release clauses may present challenges in securing these targets.
