The New England Patriots are planning to retire Tom Brady’s number 12 shirt

The New England Patriots recently announced an incredible honor for their legendary former quarterback, Tom Brady. Not only will they retire his number 12 shirt, but they also plan to erect a statue of him outside the Hall of Fame. This announcement was made during the induction of the 46-year-old athlete into the Patriots’ Hall of Fame.

Tom Brady’s impact on the Patriots is undeniable, having led them to an impressive six Super Bowl victories after being selected as the 199th pick in the 2000 draft. Patriots owner Robert Kraft expressed the significance of the statue, stating that it will represent Brady’s status not only as the greatest in franchise history but as the greatest in all of NFL history.

Although Tom Brady left the Patriots for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2020, he continued to achieve remarkable success, helping the Buccaneers secure a Super Bowl win in his first season with them and earning the title of the game’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) for the fifth time. Despite announcing his retirement in 2022, Brady surprised fans by deciding to return for a 23rd and final season in the NFL.

During the ceremony at the Patriots’ home stadium, Brady expressed gratitude, declaring, “I am eternally grateful. I am Tom Brady. And I am a Patriot.” His sentiments were echoed by former Patriots coach Bill Belichick, who emphasized his admiration for Brady and the invaluable example he set for the team during his 20-year tenure with the franchise.

Tom Brady’s legacy extends beyond his time in New England, as he holds numerous NFL records, including the all-time regular-season leader in pass attempts, completions, passing yards, and touchdown passes. Additionally, he received the season’s MVP title three times, further solidifying his impact on the sport.
